FAQs
Is the rubber mesh safe for all fish species?
Yes, the rubberized coating is designed to be gentle on fish scales and slime layers, making it ideal for catch-and-release fishing.
Can the handle be detached?
The net features a fixed-handle design to ensure maximum durability and buoyancy, so it is not intended to be disassembled.
Will treble hooks get caught in the mesh?
The rubber mesh significantly reduces hook tangles compared to fabric nets, allowing for faster unhooking of lures.
How do I clean the net?
Simply rinse it with fresh water after each outing and allow it to air dry in the shade to prevent UV degradation.
Is this net suitable for saltwater use?
Yes, the materials are robust enough for saltwater, provided you rinse the net thoroughly with fresh water after every saltwater session.
Troubleshooting
Hooks stuck in mesh
The rubberized coating is designed to resist snagging, but if a hook embeds, gently push the barb back through from the opposite side rather than pulling, which protects the mesh integrity.
Net not floating level
Ensure no heavy objects or excess lures are attached to the mesh, which can pull the frame underwater and counteract the buoyancy.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Rubberized mesh prevents hook snags
- Floating design prevents loss in deep water
- Protects fish health and slime coating
- Durable, lightweight construction
- Convenient clip-on cord for wading
Cons
- Fixed frame size cannot be folded down further
- Requires more space for transport than collapsible models
- Large dimensions might not fit smaller kayaks or float tubes
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To keep your net in peak condition, ensure the `clip-on cord` is attached to a secure point on your wading belt before entering the water. After each trip, rinse the rubberized mesh with fresh water to remove salt or debris, which can degrade the material over time. When transporting, note the dimensions of 89x48x3.5cm; it is best stored laying flat in a vehicle or secured to the exterior of a fishing bag. Avoid storing the net under heavy gear to prevent the frame from warping.
