Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free from grease or loose debris. For heavily lacquered or varnished surfaces, a light scuff sand may be beneficial, though generally not required. Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
Compatibility: Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is designed for a multitude of surfaces including bare wood, previously painted or varnished wood, laminate, metal, plastic, brick, stone, plaster, and fabric. Always test on an inconspicuous area first if unsure.
Application: Apply with a good quality brush or roller. One or two thin coats are usually sufficient. Drying time between coats is typically 1-2 hours.
Sealing: For durability and to achieve the desired finish, Chalk Paint must be sealed. Apply Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Wax using a lint-free cloth or a dedicated Wax Brush. Work the wax into the paint and wipe away any excess before allowing it to dry. For a more durable, wash-resistant finish, particularly on floors or high-traffic items, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Lacquer can be used as an alternative or over wax.
Care: Clean application tools (brushes, rollers) with warm water and soap immediately after use. Once sealed, surfaces painted with Chalk Paint can typically be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
