FAQs

Are these socks suitable for running?

Yes, the Surlingham socks are suitable for running, especially on trails or in wet conditions, due to their waterproof nature and anti-blister features. The breathability helps manage moisture during activity.

What is Aquasealz™ technology?

Aquasealz™ is the proprietary technology used by Sealskinz that creates a completely waterproof yet breathable barrier within the sock construction.

How do I determine the correct size?

The socks are available in Small (UK 3-5), Medium (UK 6-8), Large (UK 9-11), and X Large (UK 12-14). Refer to these size guides for the best fit. A snug fit is important for performance.

Can I wear these with regular shoes?

Yes, while designed for outdoor activities, they can be worn with regular shoes if you need waterproof protection. However, they are most effective when paired with boots that offer some water resistance themselves.

How long do these socks typically last?

With proper care and regular washing/drying as instructed, these socks are designed for durability and can last for several seasons of regular use.

Are they too hot for summer use?

While highly breathable, the waterproof membrane can make them warmer than a non-waterproof sock. They are ideal for summer activities in wet climates or during cooler summer days. For very hot, dry conditions, a lighter, non-waterproof sock might be preferred.

What is the benefit of the merino wool blend?

The merino wool blend provides natural temperature regulation, excellent moisture-wicking properties to keep feet dry, and a soft, comfortable feel against the skin. It also offers natural odor resistance.

Troubleshooting

Feet feel damp despite the sock being waterproof.

This could be due to perspiration buildup. Ensure you are using the correct size and that the socks are not too tight, which can impede breathability. Also, check that the top cuff is not tucked into your boot, allowing for better air circulation.

Water seems to be leaking through the sock.

Inspect the socks for any visible damage, such as punctures or tears in the waterproof membrane. Ensure the sock cuff is well above the water line of your footwear. If damage is found, the sock may need replacement.

Socks feel stiff or less breathable after washing.

Ensure you are drip-drying and not using a tumble dryer or excessive heat. Avoid fabric softeners, which can clog the waterproof membrane pores. Re-wash with a standard detergent if stiffness persists.

Compatibility: These socks are unisex and designed for adults. They are compatible with most types of outdoor footwear, including hiking boots, cycling shoes, and wellington boots.

  1. Washing: Machine wash at 40°C (105°F).
