The Merrell SpeedArc Matis is designed for adult male hikers who need a reliable, hybrid footwear solution that transitions effortlessly from urban streets to rugged trails. Its standout benefit is the integrated waterproof bootie, which provides excellent protection against unpredictable weather and wet conditions, making it an ideal choice for transitional seasons; however, users should note that the heavier construction required for this durability may feel less agile than minimalist trail runners.

Yes, they feature a fully integrated internal waterproof bootie designed to keep feet dry in wet conditions.
They are ideal for light-to-moderate hiking and all-day comfort, though specialized backpacking boots may be better for heavy loads.
While the shoes are waterproof, applying a leather-safe water repellent can help keep the exterior suede from absorbing water and staining.
The waterproof membrane reduces breathability, so they may be warmer than non-waterproof mesh shoes in high temperatures.
Use a damp cloth for the ripstop and a dry suede brush for the leather sections; avoid submerging them in water.
Ensure you are wearing moisture-wicking synthetic or merino wool socks, as cotton traps sweat inside the waterproof membrane.
Use a specialized suede brush to gently lift the nap of the material and restore the texture.
Check the outsole lugs for trapped mud or debris, which can reduce grip. Clean with a stiff-bristled brush.
To maximize the lifespan of your Merrell SpeedArc Matis shoes, ensure a proper fit by wearing the weight of sock you intend to use on your hikes. Given the leather components, avoid machine washing. Instead, wipe away surface dirt with a soft brush or a damp cloth. For the suede overlays, use a dedicated suede cleaner or eraser to prevent matting. If the interior gets soaked, remove the footbed and air dry away from direct heat sources, such as radiators or direct sunlight, which can cause the leather to stiffen or crack.
