Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Birkenstocks maintain their structural integrity, proper maintenance is essential. Upon first purchase, adjust the buckles so the straps are snug but not tight against the top of your foot. Avoid exposing the cork footbed to excessive heat or prolonged moisture, as this can degrade the natural latex bonding. To clean the upper material, use a soft-bristled brush or a damp, lint-free cloth. For the footbed, a light brushing is usually sufficient to remove dirt; if the cork sides appear dull or dry over time, a thin layer of cork sealant can be applied to prevent cracking and maintain its protective finish.
