Setup, Compatibility & Care
First Use and Fit
When first trying on your FuelCell Rebel v5, ensure you have adequate toe room (about a thumb's width) and that your heel feels secure without slipping. Utilize the lacing system to achieve a snug but comfortable fit across your midfoot. The gusseted tongue will help keep the shoe securely in place.
Compatibility
- Surface: These shoes are optimized for asphalt and paved roads. While they can handle light gravel paths, their outsole is not designed for aggressive off-road or trail running.
- Runner Type: Best suited for neutral runners who do not require pronation control. If you have significant overpronation, you may need a stability shoe or orthotics.
- Activity: Ideal for speed workouts, tempo runs, daily mileage at a faster pace, and race day (5K to half-marathon, potentially full marathon for efficient runners).
Care and Maintenance
To maximize the lifespan and performance of your New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5:
- Cleaning: Gently brush off loose dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap (like dish soap) mixed with cool water and a soft brush or cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as this can damage materials and adhesives. Do not use a tumble dryer.
- Drying: After cleaning or running in wet conditions, allow your shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Remove insoles and stuff the shoes with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or extreme heat, which can degrade materials over time.
- Rotation: If you run frequently, rotating your Rebel v5s with another pair of running shoes can extend the life of both pairs, allowing the cushioning to fully decompress between runs.
