Measure your infant's foot from heel to longest toe and compare it to Hunter's sizing chart. It's often recommended to allow a little room for thicker socks, but not so much that the boot slips off or causes tripping.
These boots are not insulated. While they are waterproof and can be worn in snow, for very cold conditions, we recommend pairing them with thick, thermal socks to keep your infant's feet warm.
Yes, Hunter First Wellington Boots are designed with an ergonomic fit suitable for young children. They provide essential foot protection and flexibility, allowing infants to walk and play naturally once they adjust to the slightly heavier feel compared to regular shoes.
Simply rinse them under a tap with water or wipe them down with a damp cloth. For stubborn mud, a soft brush can be used gently. Always let them air dry completely before storing.
With proper care and maintenance, Hunter Wellington Boots are known for their durability and can often be passed down to younger siblings, provided they are stored correctly and not exposed to harsh conditions that could degrade the rubber.
New rubber boots can sometimes feel a bit stiff. They will soften with wear. If they are excessively stiff, ensure the size is correct and perhaps try them on indoors for short periods initially to break them in.
Check the boots thoroughly for any small tears or holes. Also, ensure the boots are not too large, allowing water to splash in from the top, or too small, causing discomfort. Make sure socks are not pulling moisture into the boot.
Ensure you have the correct size. For easier donning, try wearing a thin pair of socks first. A boot horn (for older children/adults) or gentle wiggling can help. For removal, gently pull at the heel while holding the foot down.
Verify the sizing; boots that are too large or too small can cause discomfort and affect mobility. Check if socks are bunched up inside. Allow your child time to adjust to the weight and feel of wellington boots, as they differ from regular shoes.
This can sometimes occur with rubber products. Air them out thoroughly after each use. You can also try wiping the inside with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution, then rinsing and drying completely. Placing a sachet of baking soda inside can help absorb odors.
These wellington boots require no complex setup; simply ensure the correct size for your infant. They are compatible with most infant foot types, although it's always best to try them on for the most comfortable fit. For optimal care, wipe the boots clean with a damp cloth after each use to remove dirt and mud. Allow them to air dry away from direct heat sources or sunlight, which can cause the rubber to crack over time. Store them upright in a cool, dry place. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the material.
