FAQs

Is the Maestro Check Runner suitable for outdoor use?

No, the Maestro Check Runner is specifically designed for indoor use only. Exposure to outdoor elements like rain, sun, and humidity can damage the material and design.

What is 'heatset polypropylene'?

Heatset polypropylene refers to a specific manufacturing process where polypropylene fibers are heat-treated. This process makes the fibers more durable, resilient, soft to the touch, and helps them retain their shape and color, while also making them easy to clean.

How do I prevent the runner from slipping on my hardwood floor?

We strongly recommend using a 'Rug Grip Hold' or a suitable non-slip rug pad. This will provide friction between the runner and your hard floor, preventing it from sliding and wrinkling.

Can I machine wash this runner?

No, machine washing is not recommended. For cleaning, please refer to the 'Care' section, which advises regular vacuuming and spot cleaning. For a deeper clean, professional rug cleaning is best.

Will the green color fade over time?

The 100% heatset polypropylene fibers are designed to be colorfast. However, prolonged direct exposure to strong sunlight can cause some fading over many years. Rotating your runner periodically can help ensure even exposure.

Is this runner pet-friendly?

Yes, due to its durable and easy-to-clean polypropylene construction, the Maestro Check Runner is generally considered pet-friendly. It can withstand pet traffic and is relatively easy to clean up pet accidents. Regular vacuuming helps manage pet hair.

Troubleshooting

Runner slides or wrinkles on the floor

This is common on smooth surfaces. It is highly recommended to use a 'Rug Grip Hold' underneath the runner. This will secure it in place, prevent slipping, and keep it wrinkle-free.

Stains or spills on the runner

Act quickly! Blot the spill immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. Do not rub, as this can spread the stain. For tougher stains, use a small amount of mild soap mixed with water on a clean cloth, gently dabbing the area. Test on an inconspicuous spot first.

Pile appears flattened or matted in high-traffic areas

Regular vacuuming with a brush-less attachment can help lift and refresh the pile. For stubborn areas, gently brush the pile in the opposite direction of the traffic flow using a soft-bristled brush.

Runner has temporary creases from packaging

Unroll the runner and allow it to lay flat for 1-2 days. Gravity will typically smooth out most creases. For faster results, you can gently reverse roll the runner against the crease for a few hours, or place heavy, flat objects on the affected areas.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High Durability: Made with hardwearing polypropylene, it's built to last in various indoor settings.
  • Easy Maintenance: The material is inherently easy to clean, making everyday care simple and efficient.
  • Soft Underfoot Feel: Despite its durability, the heatset polypropylene provides a soft and comfortable texture.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: The traditional medallion design and vibrant green color add significant visual interest and style.
  • Versatile Placement: Suitable for enhancing any indoor area of the home.

Cons

  • Requires Rug Grip: For smooth surfaces, a separate rug grip is recommended, which is an additional purchase and setup step.
  • Traditional Style: The medallion design may not complement all modern or minimalist interior design aesthetics.
  • Indoor Use Only: Not suitable for outdoor or high-moisture environments.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup

  1. Unroll the Runner: Carefully unroll the Maestro Check Runner in your desired indoor location.
  2. Allow to Settle: It may take a day or two for any temporary creases from packaging to flatten completely. Reverse rolling can help expedite this process if needed.
  3. Apply Rug Grip (Recommended): If placing on smooth surfaces such as hardwood, laminate, or tile, it is strongly recommended to use a 'Rug Grip Hold' underneath. This prevents slipping, wrinkling, and enhances safety. Place the grip evenly beneath the runner.
  4. Positioning: Adjust the runner to your preferred alignment and ensure it lies flat.

Compatibility

  • Indoor Areas: The Maestro Check Runner is designed for any indoor area of the home, including living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, and entryways. It is not suitable for outdoor use or in areas exposed to excessive moisture.
  • Flooring Types: Compatible with most flooring types, including hardwood, tile, laminate, carpet, and concrete. Remember to use a rug grip on smooth, hard surfaces.

Care

  • Regular Vacuuming: Vacuum regularly using a brush-less attachment to remove dirt and dust. Vacuuming helps maintain the pile's appearance and prevents dirt from settling deep into the fibers.
  • Spot Cleaning: For spills or stains, immediately blot with a clean, dry cloth. For more stubborn marks, use a mild rug cleaner or a solution of mild soap and water applied sparingly. Always test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage the polypropylene fibers and color.
  • Professional Cleaning: For a deeper clean, periodic professional rug cleaning is recommended.
  • Rotate Periodically: To ensure even wear and exposure to sunlight, rotate your runner every 6-12 months.
