FAQs

How often should I sterilize the MAM Night Soother?

It is recommended to sterilize the soother before first use and then daily, or as advised by your healthcare professional. Regular sterilization is key for your baby's hygiene.

What age is this soother suitable for?

Specific age range information is not provided with this product description. Always refer to the product packaging for the recommended age range to ensure it is suitable and safe for your baby.

Can I put the soother in a dishwasher?

Dishwashers are not typically recommended for sterilizing or cleaning soothers as detergents can be harsh and may damage the material. Hand washing with warm water and mild soap, followed by sterilization, is the preferred method.

How do I make the 'Night' feature glow brighter?

To activate or enhance the glow-in-the-dark feature, expose the soother's shield to natural or artificial light for an extended period before use in the dark. The more light exposure, the stronger and longer the glow.

What material is the MAM Night Soother made from?

While the provided product attribute lists 'Silk', MAM soothers are typically made from safe, baby-friendly materials like silicone or natural rubber latex. Please check the product packaging for the definitive material composition of this specific soother.

When should I replace the soother?

For safety and hygiene, soothers should be replaced every 1-2 months, or immediately if any signs of wear, damage, stickiness, or discoloration are noticed. Always inspect before each use.

Is this soother orthodontic?

MAM designs many of its soothers with orthodontic principles to support healthy jaw and teeth development. While specific orthodontic claims are not provided for this particular product, MAM soothers generally aim for an orthodontic shape. Check the product packaging for detailed features.

Troubleshooting

Soother doesn't glow in the dark.

Ensure the soother has been exposed to sufficient light (natural daylight or artificial light) to 'charge' its glow-in-the-dark feature. The longer the exposure, the brighter and longer it will glow.

Baby rejects the soother.

Ensure the soother is the correct size for your baby's age (check packaging). Some babies have strong preferences for shape or material; this soother is typically symmetrical in design. Try offering at different times, such as after feeding or during moments of fussiness, but do not force it.

Soother shows signs of wear or damage.

Immediately discard the soother. Any signs of tearing, stickiness, discoloration, or weakening of the material (especially the teat) indicate it's no longer safe for use. Replace with a new one.

Difficulty sterilizing with a specific method.

Refer to the instructions provided with your sterilizer or the soother packaging. For boiling, ensure the soother is fully submerged and not touching the bottom/sides of the pot for prolonged periods. If using a microwave sterilizer, ensure the correct amount of water and heating time is used.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Aids in comforting and soothing babies.
  • Easy to locate in low light conditions (Night Soother feature).
  • Comes in a convenient two-pack.
  • Designed to support natural oral development.
  • Easy to clean and maintain.

Cons

  • Specific age range is not provided, requiring users to check product packaging for suitability.
  • Material attribute states 'Silk', which is unusual for a soother and likely a data error; actual material (e.g., silicone) should be verified upon purchase.
  • Some babies may prefer different soother shapes or materials.
  • Regular replacement is necessary for hygiene and safety.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Initial Setup:

  1. Inspect: Before first use, thoroughly inspect both soothers for any signs of damage or weakness, especially the teat.
  2. Sterilise: Always sterilise the soothers before the first use and regularly thereafter. Common sterilisation methods include boiling, steam sterilisation (electric or microwave), or using cold water sterilisation tablets.
  • Boiling: Place soothers in boiling water for 5 minutes. Ensure sufficient water to prevent damage.
  • Steam/Microwave: Follow the instructions for your specific steriliser. (Info needed: Confirm if this specific model includes a self-sterilising travel box).

Compatibility:

  • Age Range: Soothers come in various sizes for different age groups (e.g., 0-2 months, 0-6 months, 6-18 months). It is crucial to check the specific age recommendation on the product packaging for this MAM Night Soother 2-Pack to ensure it is suitable for your baby's age and developmental stage. Using an incorrect size can be unsafe or uncomfortable.

Care & Maintenance:

  • Daily Cleaning: Wash thoroughly with warm water and mild dish soap after each use, or as needed. Rinse well.
  • Regular Sterilisation: Sterilise daily or as recommended by health professionals and the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Inspection: Regularly check the soother for tears, stickiness, or any signs of wear. Pay close attention to the teat. If any damage is noticed, discard the soother immediately.
  • Replacement: Soothers should be replaced regularly, typically every 1-2 months, or sooner if there are signs of wear, for hygiene and safety reasons.
  • Storage: Store cleaned and sterilised soothers in a clean, dry container or steriliser box when not in use.
