Product Information

Full details

The MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Color Pencil in Brown is a versatile, multi-use pencil designed for artists and beauty enthusiasts looking to define eyes, lips, brows, and cheeks with ease. Its key benefit is the ultra-blendable, richly pigmented, soft matte color that glides on seamlessly, offering limitless creative possibilities. A potential caveat is the need to sharpen the wooden casing to maintain a precise tip.

FAQs

Can I use this pencil on my waterline?

Yes, the Artist Color Pencil is formulated to be safe for use on the waterline. Its blendable nature allows for a soft definition.

How do I choose the right shade of brown?

Consider your skin tone and hair color. Lighter browns can be used for softer looks or for fairer complexions, while deeper browns offer more intensity and definition for darker complexions or more dramatic looks.

Is this pencil waterproof?

The formula is highly pigmented and long-wearing, but not strictly waterproof. It may smudge with excessive moisture or rubbing.

How long does the pencil last once opened?

Typically, cosmetic pencils like this have a shelf life of 24 months after opening, provided they are stored correctly and kept clean.

Can I use this for contouring?

Yes, the matte finish and blendable nature of the brown shades make them suitable for subtle contouring or defining features like cheekbones.

Does it contain parabens?

Information regarding specific ingredients like parabens is best found on the official MAKE UP FOR EVER product packaging or their official website.

Troubleshooting

Pencil tip breaks during sharpening

Ensure you are using a sharpener designed for cosmetic pencils and do not force the pencil. Slow, steady turns are recommended.

Product is difficult to blend

Work quickly after application, as the formula sets. For easier blending, apply to lids or lips with a clean brush or fingertip immediately after application.

Color appears patchy

Ensure your skin (eyelids, lips, etc.) is properly prepped and moisturized. Apply a thin layer first and build up coverage gradually.

Pencil seems dry

Ensure the cap is always securely closed when not in use. Try sharpening the pencil to expose fresh product.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Highly versatile for multiple facial features.
Rich pigmentation provides excellent color payoff.
Blendable formula allows for seamless transitions.
Precise tip enables detailed application.
Matte finish is classic and long-lasting.

Cons

Requires sharpening, which consumes product.
May not be as long-wearing on lips without a primer or setting spray.
Requires a separate sharpener.
Matte finish might not be suitable for those preferring a dewy look.
Wooden casing can potentially splinter if not sharpened carefully.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The Artist Color Pencil comes ready to use. For the first application or after sharpening, twist the pencil to ensure the tip is exposed.

Compatibility: This product is designed for use on eyes, lips, brows, and cheeks. It is compatible with most makeup primers, setting sprays, and other cosmetic products.

Care:

Sharpening: Use a high-quality cosmetic sharpener suitable for wooden pencils to maintain a sharp point. Avoid over-sharpening.
Cleaning: To clean the pencil tip, gently wipe with a clean tissue. Do not use water or harsh chemicals.
Storage: Store the pencil in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, with the cap securely fastened to prevent drying out and maintain hygiene.
