FAQs
Can I feed this to my non-diabetic cat?
This food is formulated specifically for the metabolic needs of diabetic cats. It is best to consult your veterinarian before feeding this to a healthy cat.
Does this food contain any sugar?
The recipe is formulated with a low glycaemic index to avoid sugar spikes, focusing on low carbohydrates.
How should I store the 2kg bag?
Keep it in a cool, dry place and ensure the bag is tightly closed after every use to prevent oxidation.
Why are glucosamine and chondroitin included?
Diabetic cats can sometimes experience joint stress due to weight fluctuations or underlying conditions; these additives support long-term cartilage health.
Is water consumption more important on this diet?
Yes, adequate hydration is essential for all cats, especially those managing diabetes, to support metabolic and renal function.
Troubleshooting
Cat refuses to eat the new food
Try warming the food slightly with a small amount of warm water or mixing in a very small portion of the previous diet, extending the transition period to 10-14 days.
Symptoms of lethargy or excessive thirst persist
Contact your veterinarian immediately as the insulin dosage or dietary portion may require recalibration based on current blood glucose readings.
Pros and Cons
Pros

- High protein content supports muscle maintenance
- Includes therapeutic antioxidants for overall health
- Joint support ingredients included for long-term mobility
Cons
- Requires veterinarian prescription for safe use
- Transitioning sensitive cats to new diets may take time
- Must be used alongside consistent blood glucose monitoring
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Transitioning to this diet should be done gradually over a 7-day period to prevent digestive upset, mixing increasing amounts of Calibra with your cat's previous food. Always keep fresh, clean water available, as diabetic cats require proper hydration to support kidney function. Store the product in a cool, dry place and ensure the bag is sealed airtight after every feeding to maintain the integrity of the antioxidants and nutrient profile. Consult your veterinarian regularly to assess glucose levels and adjust the portion sizes based on your cat's specific metabolic requirements.
