Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Altra Olympus shoes, follow these guidelines:
- Break-in Period: If you are transitioning from traditional hiking shoes with a heel-to-toe drop, introduce these zero-drop shoes gradually on shorter hikes to allow your calves and Achilles to adapt.
- Cleaning: Remove loose dirt with a soft brush after each hike. If the shoes are muddy, hand-wash them with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Avoid machine washing or drying, as high heat can damage the GORE-TEX membrane and foam structure.
- Drying: Air dry only in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources like radiators.
- Compatibility: The shoes are compatible with standard aftermarket insoles if you require specific arch support, though the stock footbed is designed to complement the shoe's natural movement profile.
