Full details
This women's hiking jacket is for outdoor enthusiasts seeking reliable protection against the elements. Its key benefit is exceptional waterproof and breathable performance, keeping you dry and comfortable in challenging conditions. A potential caveat is that while highly functional, its design is primarily focused on outdoor performance, which might be less suited for casual urban wear without adaptation. The jacket is constructed with high-performance ARED 20/30 fabric, features stretch construction for freedom of movement, and offers a fully weather-protective build with taped seams and a water-repellent finish. It also includes versatile design elements like a detachable hood and adjustable fit.

FAQs
Is this jacket suitable for very cold weather?
The jacket provides excellent windproof protection and is designed to keep you dry, which are crucial for warmth. However, it is primarily a shell. For very cold conditions, layering with insulating mid-layers (like fleece or down) is recommended.
How do I know if I have the right size?
Refer to the brand's sizing chart, typically available on their website or the product's retail page. Ensure you measure your chest, waist, and hip circumference accurately. The jacket should allow for comfortable movement and layering underneath.
Can the hood be completely removed?
Yes, the hood is detachable, allowing you to remove it entirely when not needed or when preferred for aesthetic reasons.
What does 'ARED 20/30' mean?
ARED 20/30 refers to the fabric's performance rating. '20' typically indicates 20,000mm of hydrostatic head (waterproofness), and '30' indicates 30,000/m²/24hrs of breathability (MVTR - Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate). This signifies high-level protection and comfort.
How often should I re-apply DWR treatment?
Re-apply DWR treatment when you notice water is no longer beading on the fabric surface. This can vary depending on usage frequency and environmental conditions, but typically every few washes or after significant exposure to rain and dirt.
Is the jacket suitable for activities other than hiking?
Yes, its waterproof, breathable, and windproof features make it suitable for a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, trekking, trail running, and even general commuting in inclement weather.
Troubleshooting
Water is not beading on the fabric surface.
The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish may have worn off. Reapply a suitable DWR treatment according to product instructions.
Jacket feels clammy inside during activity.
This could be due to reduced breathability. Ensure the jacket is clean, as dirt can clog pores. Check ventilation options, like unzipping slightly if conditions allow. Also, ensure you are not wearing excessive base layers that trap moisture.
Zipper is stiff or difficult to operate.
Clean the zipper teeth with a damp cloth and a small brush. Apply a silicone-based lubricant or wax stick to the zipper teeth for smoother operation.
Hood adjustment is not holding its position.
Ensure the toggles and drawcords are clean and free of debris. Try re-threading the drawcord if it appears damaged or frayed.
