Troubleshooting
The lid does not close smoothly or stays open
Check the hinge area for debris or obstructions and ensure the lid is properly seated on its mountings.
The bin feels wobbly on the floor
Verify that all four legs are tightened securely into the base and that the floor surface is level.
The buckets are difficult to slide out
Check that the interior of the housing is clean and that no waste has fallen between the bucket and the bin walls.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Efficient vertical design saves valuable floor space
- Three distinct compartments make sorting waste simple
- Soft-close lid mechanism prevents noisy slams
- Removable internal buckets allow for easy cleaning
- Elevated design improves accessibility and ergonomics
Cons
- Height may not fit under lower-profile counters or cupboards
- Small 10L compartments might require frequent emptying if used for bulky waste
- Requires more clearance overhead compared to standard step-on bins
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup of the Brabantia SortUp is straightforward: simply attach the four legs to the base of the tower and ensure the unit is on a level surface. To maintain the bin, wipe down the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and a mild detergent to keep the Dark Grey finish looking new. The removable buckets can be washed with warm soapy water and should be dried completely before being placed back into the housing. To ensure the longevity of the soft-close mechanism, avoid forcing the lid down manually; allow the hydraulic system to do the work.
