FAQs

How do I clean my Red Wing boots?

Wipe off dirt and debris with a damp cloth. For tougher stains, use a leather cleaner. Always let the boots air dry away from direct heat.

How often should I condition my boots?

Condition your boots every 1-3 months, or more frequently if they are exposed to harsh conditions or water.

What is the Goodyear welt construction?

Goodyear welt construction is a durable method of attaching the sole to the upper, making the boots resoleable and extending their lifespan.

What kind of socks should I wear with these boots?

Wear thick, durable socks like wool or cotton blend socks for comfort and to help absorb moisture.

Are these boots waterproof?

The boots are water-resistant but not fully waterproof. Applying a leather protector spray will enhance their water resistance.

Can I replace the outsole?

Yes, due to the Goodyear welt construction, the outsoles can be replaced, extending the life of your boots.

What is the steel shank for?

The steel shank provides additional support to the arch of your foot and enhances the boot's overall stability.

Troubleshooting

Boots feel too stiff.

Allow for a break-in period. Wear the boots for short periods, gradually increasing the duration. Consider using a leather softener.

Leather is scuffed or scratched.

Use a leather cleaner and a matching color polish to restore the leather's appearance. Minor scratches can often be buffed out.

Laces are frayed or broken.

Replace the laces with a new pair of 48-inch brown & black Taslan laces or similar durable laces.

Boots feel too loose.

Ensure proper sizing, and consider using thicker socks or an insole for a snugger fit.
