FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running?
Yes, the GEL-CUMULUS 16 features impact-absorbing technology that makes them well-suited for general athletic activities and running.
Can I put these shoes in the washing machine?
It is not recommended to machine wash these trainers, as it can damage the GEL cushioning and the adhesive, shortening the lifespan of the shoes.
Are the insoles removable?
Yes, the internal liners can typically be removed if you need to air them out or replace them with custom orthotics.
What size range do these cover?
The series is available in various children's UK sizes, ranging from size 1 up to size 13.
Do these shoes provide good arch support?
They feature a cushioned midsole design that provides balanced support, though individual needs vary by foot shape.
Troubleshooting
The shoe feels too tight at the ankle.
Adjust the tension of the laces near the top of the shoe to ensure the padded collar provides support without being restrictive.
The tread is picking up stones and debris.
Regularly inspect the outsole and use a small tool to gently pry out trapped debris to maintain maximum traction.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent heel cushioning for impact protection
- Padded collar prevents ankle irritation
- Durable rubber outsole provides reliable traction

Cons
- Nylon material may show dirt more easily than darker synthetic leather
- Requires proper sizing for optimal GEL placement
- Laces may require frequent adjustment for younger children
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longest lifespan for these trainers, follow these care steps:
- Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove loose dirt from the nylon upper. For deeper stains, wipe gently with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Do not submerge the shoes in water.
- Drying: Always air dry the shoes away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can degrade the glue and cushioning materials.
- Fit Check: Ensure the child is wearing appropriate socks for their activity level. Replace the shoes when the tread on the rubber sole wears smooth or the cushioning no longer feels responsive.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place to prevent mildew and material breakdown.
