Product Information
Full details
The Godox RFT-17 Umbrella Reflector is a versatile lighting modifier designed for portrait photographers and product specialists who need consistent, wide-angle illumination. By providing a 110-degree light spread, it excels at softening harsh shadows and creating professional-grade lighting setups with ease. While its compact 15cm size makes it highly portable, photographers should note that its primary function is broad diffusion rather than high-intensity, long-throw spotlighting.

FAQs
Does this work with Godox flash speedlights?
The RFT-17 uses a Bowens mount. It will only attach to speedlights if you use a Bowens S-type bracket adapter.
Can I use this with a softbox?
No, this is a standalone reflector. It is designed to be used by itself or in conjunction with an umbrella.
Is the interior surface white or silver?
The RFT-17 features a highly reflective surface designed to maximize light output while maintaining a wide 110-degree beam.
How wide is the light spread?
It provides a 110-degree light distribution, which is considered a very wide beam angle.
Is it compatible with non-Godox lights?
Yes, as long as your strobe or LED light uses the industry-standard Bowens S-mount.
Troubleshooting
Reflector feels loose on the strobe mount
Ensure the pins are fully engaged and rotated until the locking mechanism clicks; if loose, check if your strobe's mount tension screw needs tightening.
Umbrella shaft does not slide through easily
Ensure the shaft is straight and free of debris; do not force it if there is resistance, as this may bend the metal housing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Wide, even light dispersion for natural-looking highlights
- Universal Bowens mount fits most studio strobes
- Built-in umbrella holder adds creative versatility
- Compact and lightweight for easy travel
- Robust metal build quality
Cons
- Not suitable for high-intensity, long-distance spot lighting
- Smaller diameter may be less effective for large group portraits
- Reflective surface requires care to avoid fingerprints or scratches
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To attach the RFT-17, align the three pins on the reflector with the slots on your Bowens mount strobe, insert, and rotate clockwise until you hear a click. If using an umbrella, insert the umbrella shaft through the integrated port before locking the reflector onto the light head. Compatibility is broad, covering most Godox series including the SK, DP, and QT series. To maintain the reflector, wipe the interior surface occasionally with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. Avoid using abrasive cleaners that could damage the reflective coating, and store it in a protective bag when not in use.
