Shires Running Martingale - Black - Full

A running martingale is used to help the horse maintain a more consistent head carriage and to prevent the horse from raising its head too high, thus improving contact.

Measure from the center of the horse's chest, up between the front legs, to the point where the reins attach to the bit.

Clean your martingale after each ride, especially if it gets muddy or sweaty. Use a damp cloth to wipe it down. Apply leather conditioner regularly.

A running martingale works with most bit types. However, it's best to use a bit that you're comfortable with and that suits your horse's needs.

Make sure it is properly fitted and adjusted. Also consider a lesson with a professional to make sure the horse and rider are communicating effectively.

No, the Shires Running Martingale does not include a martingale stop.

Loosen the shoulder straps and girth strap to allow for more freedom of movement. Ensure the rings are positioned correctly.

Check the fit. Ensure the martingale is adjusted correctly and that the rider is using correct rein contact. Consider consulting with a trainer.

Clean the leather and apply a leather conditioner to rehydrate and protect it.
