FAQs

Are these boots suitable for winter hiking?

Yes, the waterproof membrane and robust outsole make them highly capable for varied terrain, though they are not specifically insulated for extreme sub-zero temperatures.

Can I use these for daily city walking?

Absolutely, the moulded footbed provides excellent cushioning, making them comfortable enough for long periods of walking on paved surfaces.

How do I protect the suede material?

Use a suede-specific brush to remove dirt and avoid getting the boots saturated. If they do get wet, allow them to air dry slowly away from direct heat sources.

What is the benefit of the gusseted tongue?

The gusseted tongue is stitched to the sides of the boot, which prevents small debris like stones and water from leaking into the boot through the lace area.

Do these boots run true to size?

Yes, they generally fit true to the UK size standard, but we recommend trying them on with the socks you intend to wear while hiking to ensure a proper fit.

Troubleshooting

Boots feel stiff initially

This is normal for new suede footwear. Wear them around the house with thick socks to soften the material gradually.

Reduced water repellency

Clean the exterior thoroughly and apply a high-quality suede-compatible waterproof treatment.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Trespass Scarp Boots, follow these guidelines:

Break-in Period: Wear your boots for shorter walks indoors or on flat terrain before embarking on long-distance hikes.
Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove dried mud from the suede surface. Do not machine wash.
Maintenance: Apply a dedicated suede waterproofing spray periodically to maintain the material's water-repellent performance.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the suede from becoming brittle or fading.
