FAQs

What age is the MAM Start Soother for?

The MAM Start Soother is specifically designed for newborns, generally recommended for babies aged 0-2 months.

How do I sterilise the MAM Start Soother using its case?

Place the soothers in the open travel case, add 25ml of water (to the indicated line), close the case, and microwave for 3 minutes at 750-1000 watts. Let it cool for 5 minutes before opening. Refer to the specific instructions on the case for precise wattage and time.

Is the SkinSoft Silicone safe for my baby?

Yes, MAM SkinSoft Silicone is a high-quality, durable, and safe material. It's designed to mimic the feel of a mother's skin, making it highly accepted by babies.

How often should I replace the soother?

It is recommended to replace soothers every 1-2 months for hygiene and safety reasons. Always replace immediately if there are any signs of damage, weakness, or stickiness.

Can I attach a soother clip to the MAM Start Soother?

Yes, the MAM Start Soother features an easy-grip button specifically designed for convenient and secure attachment of most standard soother clips and straps.

What makes this soother dental-friendly?

The MAM Start Soother has a thin, symmetrical teat that allows for healthy jaw and tooth development. It's designed in collaboration with dental experts to support your baby's oral health.

Troubleshooting

My baby won't take the soother.

Baby acceptance varies. Try offering it during a calm moment, perhaps after feeding. Ensure the soother is clean and at room temperature. If your baby consistently rejects it, try different timings or offer it less frequently.

Soother falls out of baby's mouth easily.

For newborns, this can be common due to developing oral muscles. Ensure the soother is correctly inserted. A soother clip can help prevent it from falling on the floor, but won't keep it in the mouth. As your baby grows, their ability to hold it will improve.

Soother teat appears sticky or discolored.

This indicates signs of wear and tear or improper cleaning. Discard the soother immediately and replace it with a new one. Always follow cleaning and sterilisation guidelines to prolong its lifespan and ensure hygiene.

Water collects inside the teat after cleaning/sterilisation.

This is normal and harmless. Simply squeeze the teat gently to expel any trapped water after washing or sterilising. Ensure it's dry before storing or offering to your baby.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Initial Setup

Before first use, sterilise the soothers according to the instructions provided with the self-sterilising travel case. This typically involves placing the soothers in the case with a small amount of water and microwaving for a few minutes. Always ensure the soothers are completely cool before giving to your baby.

Compatibility

The MAM Start Soother is specifically designed for newborns, generally suitable for babies aged 0-2 months. Its small size and lightweight design are perfect for this age group. It is compatible with standard soother clips and straps that attach to a button-style soother.

Care & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning: Wash soothers regularly in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents.
Sterilisation: Sterilise daily or as needed using the self-sterilising travel case in the microwave. Follow the case's instructions for water amount and microwave time precisely.
Inspection: Always inspect the soother before each use, especially when your baby has teeth. Pull the teat in all directions. Discard at the first signs of damage or weakness, such as stickiness or tears.
Storage: Store soothers in a dry, covered container. Keep them away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
Replacement: Replace soothers every 1-2 months for hygiene and safety reasons, or sooner if showing signs of wear and tear.
