FAQs

What age range are these soothers suitable for?

While the specific age range for 'MAM Original Soothers - 2 Pack - Pink' isn't provided in this description, MAM Original Soothers generally come in age-specific sizes (e.g., 0-6 months, 6+ months). Please check the product packaging for the precise age recommendation for this particular pack to ensure it's suitable for your baby.

How often should I sterilise the soothers?

It is recommended to sterilise the soothers before first use and then regularly, ideally daily, especially for younger babies. The self-sterilising case makes this process quick and easy.

What is SkinSoft Silicone?

SkinSoft Silicone is a unique MAM innovation designed to feel extra soft and familiar to babies, mimicking the texture of a mother's skin. This helps achieve a high acceptance rate among infants.

Can I wash the soothers in a dishwasher?

Dishwashers may clean the soothers, but they do not sterilise them. High temperatures in dishwashers might also cause material degradation over time. For hygiene and material integrity, we recommend sterilising as per the instructions (microwave case, steam steriliser, or boiling).

How often should I replace the soothers?

For hygiene and safety, it's recommended to replace soothers every 1-2 months, or sooner if there are any signs of damage, weakness, or wear, such as tears, stickiness, or discoloration.

Are these soothers BPA/BPS free?

MAM products, including their soothers, are typically made from safe, BPA/BPS free materials. Always check the product packaging for specific certifications and material information to confirm.

Can I use the self-sterilising case for other brands of soothers?

The MAM self-sterilising travel case is specifically designed for MAM soothers. While it might fit other brands, its effectiveness and safety for other products cannot be guaranteed. It's best to use it as intended for MAM soothers.

Troubleshooting

My baby isn't taking to the soother.

Allow your baby to explore the soother on their own terms. Try offering it during sleepy times or when they are already calm. Ensure the soother is clean and free of strong smells. The MAM SkinSoft Silicone is widely accepted, but some babies may have a unique preference.

The soother keeps falling out or getting lost.

Utilise the easy-to-grasp button to attach a MAM soother clip or strap. This helps keep the soother accessible, clean, and prevents it from getting lost on the floor or in crowded places.

I see condensation inside the sterilising case after microwaving.

This is normal. The condensation is steam from the sterilisation process. Allow the case and soothers to cool completely for at least 5 minutes after microwaving, then carefully drain any remaining water before storing. The soothers will be hygienically clean.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

First Use & Sterilisation

Before first use and after each subsequent use, it is crucial to sterilise the soothers to ensure optimal hygiene. The MAM Original Soothers come with a self-sterilising travel case for convenience:

Clean: Rinse the soother thoroughly under running water.
Fill Case: Fill the travel case with 25ml of water (up to the marked line).
Place Soothers: Place the soothers in the case with the teat facing down.
Microwave: Close the case and heat in the microwave for 3 minutes at 750-1000 watts. Ensure your microwave is clean.
Cool: Allow the soothers to cool down for at least 5 minutes before removing. Drain any remaining water. The soothers are now hygienically stored in the case.

Alternatively, you can sterilise using a sterilising solution, steam steriliser, or by boiling in water for 5 minutes.

Compatibility

These soothers are generally compatible with most soother straps for convenience. Ensure the strap is appropriate for your baby's age and safe to use.

Care & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning: Clean the soother thoroughly before each use, especially if it falls on the floor.
Inspection: Regularly inspect the soother for any signs of damage, bites, or wear, particularly if your baby has teeth. Pull the teat in all directions to check for weaknesses. Discard immediately at the first sign of damage or weakness.
Storage: Store soothers in the provided self-sterilising travel case or a clean, dry container away from direct sunlight or heat.
Replacement: For hygiene and safety reasons, replace soothers every 1-2 months, or sooner if there are signs of wear.
