Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots are designed to fit snugly. When first trying them on:
- Wear Your Preferred Football Socks: Always try on boots with the socks you typically wear during play to ensure an accurate fit.
- Lace Them Properly: Start lacing from the bottom, pulling firmly but not too tightly through each eyelet to ensure an even, secure fit across your foot.
- Walk Around: Take a few steps, jog lightly, and try some small changes of direction to assess comfort and fit. They should feel snug but not painful.
- Break-In Period: High-performance boots like these may require a short break-in period. Gradually increase wear time in training sessions before using them in a match.
Compatibility
- Firm Ground (FG): These boots are specifically designed for use on natural grass pitches that are firm. The stud configuration provides optimal traction and stability on such surfaces.
- Avoid Other Surfaces: Do NOT use these boots on artificial grass (AG), soft ground (SG), or indoor surfaces. Using them on inappropriate surfaces can damage the studs, compromise your grip, and potentially lead to injury or void any warranty.
Care Instructions
Proper care will prolong the life and performance of your boots:
- Clean After Each Use: After every session, remove excess mud and dirt using a soft brush or cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth with mild soap.
- Rinse (If Necessary): If very muddy, a light rinse under cold water is acceptable. Avoid hot water, as it can damage materials.
- Air Dry: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct sunlight, radiators, or other heat sources, as this can cause the materials to crack or warp.
- Stuff with Paper: To help maintain their shape and absorb excess moisture, stuff the boots with newspaper or paper towels while drying.
- Store Properly: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Consider using a boot bag for protection during transport.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh detergents, bleach, or solvents, as these can damage the synthetic materials and finishes.
