Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with Clairol Nice'n Easy is designed to be simple, but proper preparation is key for optimal results and safety.
- Read Instructions: Thoroughly read the entire instruction leaflet enclosed in the box before you begin.
- Perform a Skin Allergy Test: Crucially, conduct a skin allergy patch test 48 hours before you plan to color your hair. Apply a small amount of the mixed product to a clean area of skin, like behind your ear, and observe for any reaction.
- Gather Supplies: Ensure you have old towels, a timer, and the gloves provided in the kit ready. You might also want a comb for sectioning hair.
- Protect Skin: Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or a barrier cream along your hairline, ears, and neck to prevent skin staining.
Compatibility
- Age Group: This product is intended for adult use.
- Hair Types: Suitable for most hair types, including natural, permed, or chemically straightened hair (ensure at least two weeks between chemical treatments and coloring).
- Previous Color: Can be used on previously colored hair, but results may vary based on existing color and hair condition.
Care
To maximize the longevity and vibrancy of your Clairol Nice'n Easy permanent hair color:
- Use Color-Safe Products: Opt for shampoos and conditioners specifically designed for color-treated hair. These formulations help preserve color molecules.
- Rinse with Cool Water: Rinsing your hair with cooler water helps to seal the hair cuticles, which can prevent color from fading prematurely.
- Limit Heat Styling: Excessive heat from styling tools can cause color to fade faster. Use heat protectants and lower heat settings when possible.
- Protect from Sun: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade hair color. Consider wearing a hat or using UV protectant hair products when outdoors.
- Avoid Over-Washing: Washing your hair less frequently can help preserve color. Consider using dry shampoo between washes.
- Deep Condition: Regular deep conditioning treatments can help keep hair healthy, which in turn helps color look more vibrant and last longer.
