FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running?
No, the Handball Spezial is a lifestyle shoe intended for casual daily wear, not for athletic running.
How do I clean the leather upper?
Wipe with a damp, soft cloth and use a dedicated leather conditioner periodically to keep the material supple.
Are these true to size?
Most users find that the adidas Handball Spezial fits true to standard UK sizing.
Can I replace the insoles?
While the factory insoles are designed for this model, many users successfully swap them for custom orthotics if required.
Is the material waterproof?
The leather upper provides some resistance to light moisture, but these shoes are not waterproof and should not be submerged.
What is the primary material used?
The exterior is crafted from high-quality leather, complemented by a rubber sole.
Troubleshooting
Creasing in the leather upper
Creasing is a natural characteristic of leather footwear; using a shoe tree when not in use can help maintain the shape.
Difficulty keeping laces tight
Ensure the laces are threaded properly through all eyelets and consider a double-knot if they continue to loosen during wear.
Soles losing traction
Regularly wipe the bottom of the rubber outsole with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dust or debris that can cause slipping.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Handball Spezial sneakers remain in top condition, follow these guidelines:
- Fit: Ensure you select your standard UK sizing for the best fit. The lace-up closure allows you to adjust tension across the midfoot.
- Leather Care: Use a soft, dry brush to remove loose dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a mild leather cleaner specifically designed for footwear and apply with a soft cloth.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent leather drying or discolouration.
- Moisture: If the shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid using direct heat sources like heaters or hair dryers, as these can crack or deform the leather.
