FAQs
What does FIFA Basic accreditation mean?
FIFA Basic accreditation means the ball has met the fundamental quality and performance standards set by FIFA for match balls. It ensures basic consistency in weight, circumference, shape retention, and rebound.
Is this ball suitable for professional match play?
While it meets FIFA Basic standards, professional top-tier leagues often require balls with higher accreditations like FIFA Quality Pro or FIFA Quality. This ball is excellent for amateur leagues, youth football, and general match play.
How do I clean the Samba Infiniti Pro Match Football?
Clean the ball with a damp cloth after use. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, and do not submerge the ball in water. Allow it to air dry naturally.
Can I use this ball in wet conditions?
Yes, the ball's construction with glued seams minimizes moisture absorption, making it suitable for use in damp or light rain conditions. However, it's best to dry it thoroughly after use.
What is the difference between Size 3, 4, and 5 footballs?
Size 5 is the standard size for adult football (ages 12+). Size 4 is typically for younger players (ages 8-12), and Size 3 is for even younger children (under 8). The dimensions and weight vary accordingly.
How long should I expect this ball to last?
With proper care and use on appropriate surfaces, the Samba Infiniti Pro Match Football is designed for durability. Expected lifespan varies greatly depending on the frequency and intensity of use, but its robust construction aims for longevity in match conditions.
What is the recommended inflation pressure?
The recommended inflation pressure is typically around 8-10 PSI (0.5-0.7 BAR). Always check the ball itself for specific markings, or refer to standard guidelines for size 5 footballs. Over-inflation can damage the ball.
Troubleshooting
Ball not holding air
Check the inflation needle and valve for any debris. Ensure the needle is securely inserted before inflating. If the problem persists, the bladder may be faulty.
Ball losing its shape
Ensure the ball has been correctly inflated to the recommended pressure. Avoid over-inflating or leaving the ball in extreme temperatures. If the shape is permanently distorted, it may indicate damage to the internal structure.
Surface scuffing or peeling
This is often due to use on abrasive surfaces. Ensure the ball is used on appropriate pitches. Minor scuffs can be cleaned, but significant damage may affect performance.
Uneven bounce
Check for consistent inflation. A misshapen ball or internal damage to the bladder can also cause an uneven bounce. Ensure the ball is clean and free from mud or debris that might affect its roll.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent shape retention due to glued seams and hybrid technology.
- Low moisture absorption, maintaining performance in various weather conditions.
- Durable construction designed for longevity and repeated use.
- Consistent flight characteristics thanks to the 14-panel design and textured surface.
- Good value for money for a FIFA Basic accredited match ball.
Cons
- FIFA Basic accreditation may not be sufficient for top-tier professional matches.
- Textured surface, while aiding grip, might wear over extended heavy use.
- Machine-stitched construction, while high quality, is generally less durable than fully hand-stitched balls.
- Primarily designed for match play, may not be ideal for intense training sessions involving heavy kicking.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Inflation: Use a standard ball pump with a suitable needle. Inflate the ball to the recommended pressure (typically indicated on the ball itself, or refer to general guidelines for size 5 match balls, usually around 8-10 PSI). Do not over-inflate.
- First Use: After inflation, allow the ball to rest for a few hours to ensure the bladder settles correctly.
Compatibility:
- Pitch Types: Suitable for grass (natural and artificial) and firm, dry surfaces. Avoid prolonged use on abrasive surfaces like concrete or tarmac, which can damage the outer material.
- Weather Conditions: Designed for use in various weather, including light rain, due to its low moisture absorption. Extremely heavy downpours or prolonged submersion in water should still be avoided.
Care:
- Cleaning: After use, wipe the ball clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the textured surface.
- Drying: If the ball becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators or intense sunlight. Stuffing with newspaper can help absorb excess moisture.
- Storage: Store the ball in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Deflating the ball slightly for long-term storage can help preserve the bladder and shape.
