FAQs

What is the primary function of the 5-degree NP Finder?

Its primary function is to provide a precise 5-degree spot reading of either direct flash or ambient reflected light, allowing for detailed measurement of specific small areas.

Do I need a separate light meter to use this?

Yes, the Sekonic NP Finder 5 Degree is an accessory and requires a Sekonic LiteMaster Pro L-478D or L-478DR meter to function.

Can this be used with any Sekonic light meter?

No, it is specifically designed for and compatible only with the Sekonic LiteMaster Pro L-478D and L-478DR models.

How do I clean the finder?

Gently clean the lens with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. Avoid using abrasive materials or liquids.

Is the 5-degree angle adjustable?

No, the 5-degree angle is fixed and is a defining characteristic of this specific spot finder attachment.

When would I use a 5-degree spot meter instead of the main meter?

You would use it for measuring the light on a specific small detail, calculating precise lighting ratios between different light sources on a subject, or measuring a distant bright object.

Troubleshooting

Readings seem inaccurate

Ensure the NP Finder is securely attached to the compatible meter. Verify the meter is set to the correct mode (flash or ambient) and that the target area is within the 5-degree field of view.

Finder does not fit the meter

Confirm that you are using a Sekonic LiteMaster Pro L-478D or L-478DR meter. This finder is not compatible with other models.

Scratch on the finder lens

A minor scratch may slightly affect readings if it obstructs the lens. Clean gently with a microfiber cloth. For deep scratches, replacement may be necessary.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The NP Finder attaches directly to the front of compatible Sekonic L-478D or L-478DR meters. Ensure it clicks securely into place. No calibration is typically required as it works in conjunction with the meter's internal functions.

Compatibility: This accessory is exclusively designed for the Sekonic LiteMaster Pro L-478D and L-478DR incident/flash meters. It will not function with any other Sekonic models or light meters from other manufacturers.

Care: Keep the lens of the finder clean using a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid touching the lens surface directly. Store the finder in a protective case or the original packaging when not in use to prevent scratches or damage.
