Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before planting, ensure your onion sets are stored in a cool, dark location with adequate ventilation to prevent premature sprouting or moisture-related fungal issues. To set up your garden, prepare the soil by removing weeds and working in organic compost to improve drainage. Push each bulb gently into the soil so the tips are just visible at the surface. During the growing season, watering should be performed only when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid overhead watering as the bulbs approach maturity to prevent bulb rot. Monitor for common garden pests, and ensure your soil remains free of weeds to reduce competition for nutrients.
