FAQs

What is Ambassador leather?

Ambassador leather is a heavyweight, oily leather that has been tumbled for added character, providing a soft handle.

How do I clean my Dr. Martens 2976 Chelsea boots?

Use a damp cloth to wipe away dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a leather cleaner specifically designed for oiled leather.

What kind of socks should I wear with these boots?

Wear socks that are comfortable and provide a good fit. During the break-in period, thicker socks can help protect your feet.

How often should I apply Wonder Balsam?

Apply Wonder Balsam every few months, or more often if the leather appears dry.

Are these boots waterproof?

While the boots offer some water resistance, they are not fully waterproof. Applying a leather protectant can increase their water resistance.

What is the warranty on Dr. Martens boots?

Dr. Martens offers a warranty against manufacturing defects. Check the product packaging or the Dr. Martens website for specific warranty details.

Can I replace the soles?

Yes, a cobbler can resole Dr. Martens boots, extending their lifespan.

Troubleshooting

Boots feel stiff initially.

The Ambassador leather will soften with wear. Consider wearing thick socks initially and gently flexing the boots to help break them in.

Scratches or scuffs appear on the leather.

Gently rub the area with a damp cloth. Apply Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam to help minimize the appearance of scratches.

Stitching unravels.

Inspect the area, and if the damage is minor, you might try a strong leather glue. For more serious issues, consult a cobbler.
