Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
There is no complex setup required for your Barbour Wilton Wellingtons. Simply slip them on as you would any other Chelsea boot. For ease, you may wish to wear appropriate socks.
Compatibility
These wellingtons are designed to be versatile. They are compatible with a wide range of casual and outdoor attire, including jeans, leggings, and waterproof trousers. They are suitable for adult females and designed for use in wet, muddy, or damp conditions.
Care
Proper care is essential to prolong the life and appearance of your rubber wellingtons:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe off any mud or dirt with a damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn grime, a mild soap solution can be used. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources (like radiators). Direct heat can cause the rubber to crack or degrade.
- Storage: Store the wellingtons upright in a cool, dry place. Avoid folding or creasing the rubber. Storing them out of direct sunlight will help prevent 'rubber bloom' (a white powdery film) and maintain the rubber's flexibility.
- Rubber Bloom: If a white powdery film appears, this is a natural process called 'rubber bloom' which occurs when insoluble particles rise to the surface. It does not affect the durability of the boots. You can usually wipe it off with a damp cloth, or use a specialized rubber boot buffer or silicone spray to restore the shine.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not use harsh detergents, solvents, or oil-based products on your rubber boots, as these can damage the material.
