Product Information
Full details
The Aqua One Filter Air 60 is an ideal filtration solution for aquarium hobbyists managing tanks up to 60 liters, specifically those focused on breeding, quarantine setups, or shrimp habitats. This air-driven sponge filter delivers both mechanical and biological filtration by pulling water through porous foam, ensuring a gentle current that won't disturb delicate inhabitants. While it is highly efficient and user-friendly, users should note that it requires a separate air pump and airline tubing to function.

FAQs
Is the air pump included?
No, the air pump and airline tubing are sold separately.
Can this be used for goldfish?
It is suitable for small tanks, but keep in mind that goldfish produce a large amount of waste and may require more frequent sponge cleaning.
How often should I clean the sponge?
Clean the sponge when you notice a decrease in bubble flow, typically once every 2 to 4 weeks depending on stocking levels.
Is this filter safe for betta fish?
Yes, because the filter is air-driven, it creates a very low-flow environment that is perfect for long-finned bettas.
Can I replace the sponge?
Yes, standard replacement sponges are available when the original material begins to degrade.
Troubleshooting
Low bubble output
Check your airline tubing for kinks and ensure your air pump is functioning correctly.
Filter is floating
Ensure the suction cups are pressed firmly against clean glass and that the sponge is fully saturated with water.
Water appears cloudy
The sponge may be clogged with debris; gently rinse it in aquarium water to restore proper flow.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Ideal for sensitive species like shrimp and fish fry
- Easy to disassemble and clean
- Adjustable height for versatile placement
- Provides essential biological filtration through sponge surface area
Cons
- Requires a separate air pump for operation
- Air pump produces moderate noise during operation
- Not suitable for tanks larger than 60 liters
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To set up the filter, attach the sponge unit to the inside of your tank glass using the provided suction cups. Connect standard airline tubing from your air pump to the intake nozzle on the filter. You can adjust the uplift pipe length to match your water level. For care, it is recommended to rinse the sponge in a bucket of used aquarium water during your routine water changes; never clean the sponge under tap water, as the chlorine will destroy the beneficial bacteria colonies living within the foam.
