The Belstaff Chassis Gilet is designed for the modern man who values both technical performance and timeless style, making it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts and urban commuters alike. It offers an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio thanks to its premium 750-fill power down, providing substantial insulation without adding unnecessary bulk. While this garment excels in comfort and mobility, prospective buyers should note that as a lightweight technical piece, it is intended primarily for layering rather than as a standalone shell in extreme alpine conditions.

It is water-repellent, meaning it will resist light rain, but it is not intended to be fully waterproof in heavy, sustained downpours.
Yes, but use a delicate cycle, cold water, and a specialized down-safe detergent to protect the internal fill.
Fill power measures the loft and quality of the down. A 750 rating indicates high-quality insulation that is very efficient at trapping heat relative to its weight.
The gilet is designed to be worn close to the body to maximize thermal efficiency, fitting like a standard athletic-cut layer.
It is excellent for chilly weather or as a layering piece in winter, but may not be sufficient as a primary jacket in extreme arctic conditions.
This is common with down garments; gently pull the feather back from the inside rather than pulling it through the fabric to avoid enlarging the puncture hole.
Ensure the gilet is tumble dried on low heat with dryer balls to break up clumps and restore the down's loft.
To ensure your gilet maintains its loft and water-repellent finish, proper maintenance is essential. Always consult the internal care label before washing; generally, these garments require a gentle machine wash using a detergent specifically formulated for down products. Avoid fabric softeners as they can strip the coating from the technical fabric. When drying, use a low-heat setting with clean tennis balls in the dryer to help re-distribute the down and restore its original volume. Compatibility-wise, the gilet fits best as a mid-layer under a waterproof shell or over a long-sleeve sweater.
