FAQs
Are these shoes true to size?
Dr. Martens sizing can sometimes vary. It's recommended to consult the official Dr. Martens size chart and measure your child's foot. Many find them to be true to size, but if in doubt, trying them on is best.
How durable is the patent leather for active kids?
The patent leather is designed to be durable for school wear and offers good resistance to minor scuffs and splashes. However, like all materials, extreme impact or scraping can cause damage. Regular cleaning helps maintain its appearance.
Can these shoes be worn in wet weather?
While the patent leather uppers offer some water resistance, these shoes are not fully waterproof. For heavy rain or puddles, we recommend waterproof footwear.
How do I clean the white stitching?
Use a small, soft brush (like an old toothbrush) with mild soap and water to gently scrub the stitching. Rinse with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.
Is the bow removable?
The bow embellishment is stitched onto the strap for security and is not designed to be easily removed without potentially damaging the shoe.
What is the Airwair sole?
The Airwair sole is Dr. Martens' signature air-cushioned sole, known for its comfort, durability, and slip resistance. It provides excellent shock absorption for all-day wear.
Troubleshooting
Shoes feel stiff or uncomfortable initially.
Dr. Martens often require a break-in period. Encourage your child to wear them for short periods at home before full-day school wear. Thicker socks can also help.
Patent leather surface appears dull or has minor scuffs.
Clean the surface with a *damp soft cloth* to remove surface dirt. For stubborn marks or to restore shine, use a *patent leather cleaner* according to its instructions, or a very mild soap solution, then buff with a dry cloth.
Rip tape fastening isn't holding securely.
Check for debris (lint, thread) caught in the hook-and-loop material. Clean gently with a brush or tweezers. Ensure the straps are properly aligned when fastened.
Squeaking sound from the sole.
This can sometimes occur with new soles. Applying a small amount of baby powder or petroleum jelly to the inside edges of the sole where it meets the upper can sometimes alleviate the squeak. Ensure the inside of the shoe is dry.
