FAQs
What is the total volume of the Osprey Daylite Plus?
The Daylite Plus has a 20-liter capacity, making it suitable for daily use, short hikes, and travel as a personal item.
Can I use the interior sleeve for a hydration reservoir instead of a laptop?
Yes, the multifunctional interior sleeve is designed to hold either a hydration reservoir or most 14-inch laptops/tablets, offering flexibility for your activity.
Is this backpack suitable for air travel as a carry-on?
With dimensions of L46 x W26 x D24cm, the Daylite Plus generally meets the size requirements for personal items or carry-on luggage on most airlines. Always check specific airline restrictions.
How should I clean my Daylite Plus backpack?
For cleaning, spot-clean with a mild soap and cold water using a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
What does it mean for a product to be 'bluesign approved'?
A bluesign PRODUCT signifies that the materials and manufacturing processes meet stringent environmental, health, and safety standards, ensuring sustainability and minimizing ecological impact.
Is the hipbelt on the Daylite Plus removable?
Yes, the 20mm webbing hipbelt is fully adjustable and can be easily removed if you prefer a simpler, lighter carry or when using it as a travel daypack.
Can this pack attach to other Osprey bags?
Yes, the Daylite Plus is designed to attach to several larger Osprey travel and backpacking packs, offering an integrated solution for extended trips.
Troubleshooting
Pack feels uncomfortable or unstable during wear.
Adjust the shoulder straps, sternum strap, and removable hipbelt (if attached) to achieve an optimal fit. Ensure the load inside the pack is evenly distributed and use the side compression straps to stabilize contents.
Laptop or tablet does not fit in the interior sleeve.
Verify the dimensions of your device. The interior sleeve is designed to accommodate most 14-inch laptops or tablets. Larger devices may not fit. Avoid forcing items into the sleeve to prevent damage to both the pack and your device.
Contents inside the pack get damp in light rain.
The Daylite Plus features a PFC-free DWR coating, which provides water resistance but does not make the pack fully waterproof. For protection in heavy or prolonged rain, consider using a separate rain cover or packing sensitive items in dry bags.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Highly Versatile: Ideal for daily commutes, day hikes, travel, and general everyday use.
- Sustainable Construction: Utilizes bluesign approved, GRS-certified, and PFC-free DWR materials.
- Comfortable Fit: Padded backpanel, harness, and adjustable straps ensure comfort for extended wear.
- Tech-Friendly: Dedicated sleeve for laptops or tablets keeps devices secure.
- Lightweight Design: Weighing only 0.54kg, it adds minimal bulk.
- Expandable Options: Can attach to larger Osprey packs for increased capacity or serve as a summit pack.
Cons
- Limited Capacity: 20-liter volume may be too small for overnight trips or carrying extensive gear.
- Water Resistance Only: While featuring DWR coating, it is not fully waterproof and may require a rain cover in heavy downpours.
- Basic Organization: While ample, it lacks highly specialized pockets for specific technical gear.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Adjust Shoulder Straps: Loosen all straps, put on the pack, and then tighten the shoulder straps until the pack sits comfortably on your back, with the weight distributed.
- Sternum Strap: Adjust the sternum strap height and tension across your chest for stability and to prevent shoulder strap slippage. The integrated whistle is for emergencies.
- Hipbelt: If using, connect and tighten the 20mm webbing hipbelt around your hips to transfer some of the load and enhance stability, especially during active use. It can be removed if not needed.
- Compression Straps: Use the dual side compression straps to cinch down the load and keep contents stable, preventing items from shifting inside.
Compatibility
- The Daylite Plus is designed to attach to several larger Osprey travel and backpacking bags, including some Aether/Ariel, Farpoint/Fairview, and Porter series packs. This allows you to easily expand your carrying capacity.
- The integrated harness grab handle doubles as a luggage pass-thru, enabling you to securely slide the pack over the handle of wheeled luggage for convenient transport.
Care
- Cleaning: Spot clean your Daylite Plus with a mild soap and cold water using a soft brush or sponge. For tougher spots, a gentle fabric cleaner can be used. Avoid harsh detergents or bleach.
- Drying: Always allow the pack to air dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Do not use a machine dryer, as high heat can damage the fabric and coatings.
- Storage: Store the pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure it is empty and clean to prevent odors and damage.
- DWR Maintenance: The PFC-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating will wear off over time. You can refresh it using a DWR spray treatment available for outdoor gear if you notice a decrease in water repellency.
