Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Thread the laces through all eyelets. Ensure even tension across the foot. Start by tightening from the toe box upwards, ensuring a snug but not restrictive fit. A double knot can prevent laces from coming undone during activity.
- Fit Check: Have your child try on the shoes with their usual running socks. There should be about a thumb's width space between the longest toe and the end of the shoe. The heel should feel secure without slipping, and the midfoot should be comfortably held.
Compatibility
- Age Group: These shoes are specifically designed for 'Grade School' or 'Juniors', catering to the foot mechanics and activity levels of young children.
- Foot Type: Best suited for individuals with a neutral pronation. This means the foot rolls inward slightly after landing. If your child is known to overpronate (foot rolls inward excessively) or underpronate (foot rolls outward), these shoes may not offer adequate specific support, and a different type might be more suitable.
- Activity: Ideal for running (sprints, long-distance), active play, school sports, and general daily wear.
Care Instructions
To maximize the lifespan and maintain the performance of your ASICS GEL-EXCITE 10 shoes:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the mesh upper and rubber outsole with a damp cloth. For tougher dirt, use a small amount of mild soap (e.g., dish soap diluted in water) and a soft brush. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators, heaters, or direct sunlight, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Stuffing them with crumpled paper can help maintain their shape.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or tumble dry, as this can deform the shoes and compromise their structural integrity.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, remove the sockliners and air them out. Shoe deodorizers or baking soda sachets can also help.
