Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Prepare the Base: Ensure a stable, level base using compacted hardcore and a layer of sharp sand. This is crucial for longevity and preventing movement.
- Lay the Slabs: Place the 600 x 600 x 38mm slabs onto the prepared sand bed, maintaining consistent joint gaps (typically 5-10mm).
- Level and Tap: Use a rubber mallet to gently tap each slab into place, ensuring it is level with its neighbours.
- Jointing: Fill the gaps with dry sand or a suitable jointing compound once the slabs are set.
Compatibility:
These concrete paving slabs are compatible with standard landscaping practices and materials. They can be used with most types of edging, gravel, and decorative aggregates. Ensure any sub-base materials used are suitable for paving.
Care:
- Regular Sweeping: Keep the surface free from leaves and debris to prevent staining and moss growth.
- Cleaning: Wash with water and a mild detergent using a stiff brush if necessary. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners.
- Stain Removal: For stubborn stains, use a dedicated concrete cleaner, following the manufacturer's instructions. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.
- Moss/Algae: Treat with a suitable patio cleaner or a diluted vinegar solution, rinsing thoroughly afterwards.
