What is the capacity of the nesting box?

Troubleshooting

Solar light not illuminating

Ensure the solar panel is clean and receives direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours daily. Check if the light switch is in the 'on' position. In prolonged cloudy weather, the battery may need time to recharge.

Planter feels unstable

Ensure the planter is correctly and securely slotted onto a sturdy fence panel or post. If mounting on a post, verify the post is firm in the ground.

Birds are not using the nesting box

Bird usage depends on local wildlife presence and habitat suitability. Ensure the location is relatively quiet and offers nearby food and water sources. Cleanliness of the box may also be a factor.

Water pooling in the planting area

The planter is designed with drainage in mind. Ensure there are no blockages in the drainage holes. Overwatering can still occur, so monitor soil moisture.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Combines multiple garden features into one product, saving space.
  • Supports local wildlife by providing a safe nesting site.
  • Enhances garden aesthetics with elevated planting and ambient lighting.

Cons

  • Requires sufficient sunlight for the solar light to charge effectively.

  • Vertical orientation might limit plant choices compared to traditional ground planters.
  • Requires seasonal planting updates and occasional cleaning.
  • May not be suitable for very large or aggressive root systems.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Identify a suitable location on a sturdy fence panel or post, ideally receiving adequate sunlight for the solar panel.
  2. Securely slot the planter onto the fence or post. Ensure it is firmly attached.
  3. Add your chosen plants to the 6-liter planting capacity section.
  4. Fill the 4-liter nesting box area with appropriate nesting material if desired (or leave empty for birds to use naturally).
  5. Ensure the solar panel on top is clean and unobstructed.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with most standard fence panels and posts.
  • Works well with trailing and bedding plants.

Care:

  • Planting: Refresh plants seasonally.
  • Nesting Chamber: Clean out the nesting chamber annually after the breeding season (typically late autumn or early winter) if it has been used, or when not in use, to maintain hygiene.
  • Solar Light: Wipe the solar panel with a damp cloth periodically to ensure optimal charging.
  • Materials: The unit is made from robust recycled materials and requires minimal maintenance beyond cleaning.
