Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Proper setup is crucial for successful and safe hair coloring. Always follow the detailed instructions provided in the product box.
- Perform a Skin Allergy Patch Test: 48 hours before you plan to color, apply a small amount of the dye mixture to a discreet area of your skin (e.g., behind the ear). Monitor for any reaction like redness, itching, or swelling. DO NOT PROCEED if you experience any irritation.
- Gather Supplies: You will need gloves (usually included), an old towel, a timer, and a non-metallic bowl and applicator brush if mixing is required. Some people also apply petroleum jelly around their hairline to prevent skin staining.
- Prepare Your Hair: Ensure your hair is dry and unwashed for at least 24-48 hours prior to coloring (refer to product instructions for specific guidance).
- Mix the Product: Carefully combine the colorant and developer creams as instructed in the product leaflet. Use only non-metallic tools for mixing.
Compatibility
- Age Group: This product is intended for adult use.
- Hair Type: Suitable for various hair types looking for permanent black color and grey coverage.
- Not for Other Uses: Do not use this product to dye eyelashes or eyebrows, as doing so may cause blindness or severe irritation.
- Previous Hair Treatments: Be aware that previous chemical treatments (e.g., perms, relaxers) can affect color results. Consult the product leaflet for specific advice if you have recently treated your hair.
Care
To maintain your new black color and the health of your hair:
- Use Color-Safe Products: Opt for shampoos and conditioners specifically formulated for color-treated hair to help preserve color vibrancy.
- Limit Washing: Washing your hair less frequently can help prolong your color. Consider dry shampoo between washes.
- Cool Water Rinse: Rinse your hair with cooler water after shampooing to help seal the hair cuticle and lock in color.
- Heat Protection: If you use heat styling tools, apply a heat protectant spray to minimize color fade and hair damage.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Limit exposure to chlorine and excessive sun, as these can strip color.
