This guide is for students, professionals, and anyone who enjoys the convenience of multiple ink colors in a single pen. The Bic 4 Colours Smooth Ball Pens offer an exceptionally smooth writing experience with vibrant colors, making note-taking and organization effortless. A minor caveat is the ink is specifically designed for smooth flow, which may require a brief drying time to prevent smudging on certain paper types. Are these pens suitable for left-handed writers?

While the smoother ink may help, users may still experience some smudging. Allowing the ink to dry for a moment is recommended.

What are the dimensions of the pack?

The pack dimensions are approximately 8 x 19.7 x 1.5 cm.

Troubleshooting

Pen not writing or skipping

Ensure the correct color selector is depressed. Try gently scribbling on a scrap piece of paper to restart ink flow. If the issue persists across all colors, the ink may be depleted.

Ink smudging excessively

Allow a few extra seconds for the ink to dry on the paper, especially on non-absorbent surfaces. Use a lighter touch when writing. Ensure the pen tips are clean.

Clicker mechanism feels stiff

Gently try to dislodge any potential debris around the clicker mechanism. Avoid forcing the mechanism, as this could cause damage. If stiffness persists, the pen may have internal wear.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ultra-smooth writing experience that reduces hand fatigue.
Convenient all-in-one design for quick color changes.
Attractive and modern barrel designs.
Reliable performance backed by Bic's manufacturing expertise.
Ideal for detailed notes, planning, and creative tasks.

Cons

May smudge on certain glossy or coated papers if not allowed to dry.
Ink formulation is optimized for smoothness, not necessarily for archival permanence.
Pen tips are medium (1.00 mm), which might be too broad for very fine writing.
Not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts (potential choking hazard).

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: These pens require no setup. Simply extend the desired ink color using the corresponding clicker button and begin writing. Retract the tip by clicking the main button on the top.

Compatibility: The Bic 4 Colours Smooth Ball Pens are compatible with most standard paper types. However, due to the smooth, fluid ink, it is recommended to use them on regular paper. For best results, allow the ink a moment to dry on coated or glossy surfaces to prevent smudging.

Care: To maintain optimal performance, keep the pens capped when not in use (by retracting the tips). Avoid exposing the pens to extreme temperatures, which can affect ink flow. If the ink is depleted, the pens are designed for use until the ink runs out and are not refillable.
