Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
To get the best fit and protection from the Regatta Calderdale III jacket:
- Wear Appropriate Layers: For warmth in colder conditions, layer a fleece or thermal top underneath as the jacket itself is not insulated.
- Zip Up Fully: Ensure the main zipper is fully closed for maximum protection against wind and rain.
- Adjust Cuffs: Use the hook-and-loop fasteners on the cuffs to create a snug fit around your child's wrists, preventing water and wind from entering.
- Adjust Hem: For ages 7+, use the shock cord hem adjusters to tighten the bottom of the jacket, sealing out drafts and rain.
- Utilize Hood: Pull the grown-on technical hood over the head. Its elastication will provide a secure fit, protecting from wind and rain without needing to adjust toggles.
Compatibility
This specific jacket is tailored for children aged `7-8 years`. Please refer to Regatta's official size chart to ensure the best fit for your child. It's designed as a unisex garment, suitable for all children. This jacket's robust features make it compatible with a wide range of outdoor activities.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your jacket:
- Washing: Machine wash cold (30°C) with a technical wash (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash) designed for waterproof outerwear. Avoid conventional detergents, fabric softeners, and bleach, as these can damage the waterproof membrane and DWR finish.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low setting or hang dry away from direct heat. Heat can sometimes help reactivate the DWR finish.
- DWR Re-application: After extended use and washing, the Durable Water Repellent finish may diminish. Periodically re-apply a DWR treatment spray (available from outdoor retailers) to maintain the jacket's water-shedding properties.
- Storage: Store the jacket clean and dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, to preserve its materials.
