Full details
The New Balance Tektrel is designed for adult male runners who require a reliable, versatile shoe for navigating diverse off-road environments. Whether you are tackling muddy park trails, rocky fells, or forest paths, this shoe provides essential traction and underfoot cushioning to keep you moving comfortably. While it excels on variable terrain, users should note that the design is specialized for trail performance, making it slightly firmer than dedicated road-running footwear.

FAQs
Are these shoes waterproof?
The Tektrel is designed with durable, breathable materials for trail use, but it is not marketed as waterproof or GORE-TEX lined.
Can I use these on road surfaces?
Yes, the AT Tread outsole is designed for both paved and off-road use, though they are optimized primarily for trails.
How should I clean the grey upper?
Gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid machine washing or tumble drying, as this can damage the shoe's structure.
Are these suitable for wide feet?
The Tektrel follows standard athletic fit dimensions. If you typically require wide-fit shoes, you may want to size up or consult local fitting experts.
Do these shoes offer arch support?
The midsole is designed for balanced cushioning and support; however, users with specific orthotic needs may choose to replace the stock insole.
Troubleshooting
Feeling slipping inside the shoe during descents
Try the 'runner's loop' lacing technique to better secure your heel in the back of the shoe.
Outsole collecting excessive mud/debris
Use a specialized rubber shoe brush or a wooden toothpick to dislodge debris from the tread lugs after every run.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent grip on muddy and loose terrain
- Durable build quality for off-road resilience
- Provides reliable cushioning for long distance trail runs
- Secure fit helps prevent foot slip on uneven surfaces
Cons
- Not optimized for high-speed road running
- The firm sole may feel rigid on smooth concrete
- Grey colorway requires regular cleaning to maintain appearance
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the best fit, wear your typical running socks when trying on the shoes. The Tektrel features a standard lacing system; ensure the laces are snug across the midfoot to capitalize on the shoe's supportive chassis.
Care Instructions:
- After Use: If muddy, allow the shoes to dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators to prevent the materials from warping.
- Cleaning: Brush off dried dirt with a soft-bristled brush. For stubborn stains, use a damp cloth with mild soap.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry area to maintain the integrity of the foam cushioning.
