FAQs

Is this mascara waterproof?

The NARS Notorious Mini Mascara is smudge and flake-resistant for up to 16 hours, but it is not explicitly marketed as waterproof.

Can I use this if I wear contact lenses?

Yes, the product is ophthalmologically tested, making it generally suitable for contact lens wearers, though caution is always advised when applying any makeup near the eyes.

Does this mascara help with lash curl?

Yes, the formula is designed to lift and curl lashes, providing a fluttery, voluminous effect.

How do I remove this mascara?

Use a standard eye makeup remover or a gentle oil-based cleanser, massaging it onto the lashes before rinsing.

Is the formula heavy on the lashes?

No, it features a light, buildable consistency designed to provide volume without adding unnecessary weight.

Troubleshooting

Mascara is clumping during application

Wipe excess product off the brush on the tube rim before applying or use a clean spoolie brush to comb through lashes immediately after application.

Product feels dry inside the tube

Ensure the cap is screwed on tightly after every use and avoid pumping the wand in and out, which introduces air.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Long-lasting 16-hour wear without smudging
Lightweight formula builds volume easily
Travel-friendly mini size fits in any makeup bag
Provides significant curl and thickening effects
Flake-resistant for a clean look all day

Cons

Small wand may take practice for full coverage
Mini size contains less product than full-sized tubes
Requires careful layering to avoid potential clumping if over-applied

Setup, Compatibility & Care

No specialized setup is required; simply twist open the cap and wipe any excess product on the rim if the brush appears overloaded. This mascara is compatible with most eye makeup routines and can be removed easily with your preferred oil-based or gentle eye makeup remover. To ensure the formula lasts as long as possible, always replace the cap tightly after use to prevent the product from drying out. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and avoid pumping the wand in the tube, as this pushes air into the formula and can cause it to dry out prematurely.
