Product Information

Full details

The SixSixOne Recon Advance Knee Pads are designed for trail and enduro riders who prioritize a balance between heavy-duty impact protection and all-day pedaling mobility. Featuring lightweight D3O LP1 inserts and a slip-on, high-thigh fit, these pads provide reliable security and certified safety during technical riding. The primary caveat for potential users is the slip-on design, which requires accurate sizing to ensure the silicon grippers maintain proper placement throughout long, sweaty rides.

FAQs

Are these knee pads machine washable?

It is recommended to hand wash the sleeves to maintain the fit of the compression fabric and the lifespan of the silicon grippers.

Do these pads fit under mountain bike pants?

Yes, their low-profile design is specifically created to fit comfortably under most modern riding pants.

What is the EN1621-1 certification?

This is a standard for motorcycle limb protectors, confirming that the pads have passed rigorous impact attenuation tests.

Can I use these for downhill racing?

While they provide excellent protection for trail and enduro, full-face downhill racers might prefer more rigid shells depending on the course intensity.

How do I know if they fit correctly?

The pad should feel snug and secure without restricting blood flow, and the silicone grippers should prevent the pad from sliding when you flex your knee.

Troubleshooting

Pads sliding down during the ride

Clean the silicon leg grippers with a damp cloth to remove skin oils and ensure they are placed directly against skin rather than over fabric.

D3O insert feels stiff

The material is temperature-sensitive. Ensure the pads have been at room temperature for several minutes before putting them on to ensure maximum flexibility.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Certified to EN1621-1 impact standards
Extremely flexible for natural pedaling motion
Secure fit with silicon leg grippers
Low-profile aesthetic fits easily under riding pants
Additional EVA protection for side impacts

Cons

Slip-on design may be harder to remove with muddy gear
Requires precise sizing to avoid slippage
Less ventilation than minimal mesh pads

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure maximum effectiveness, pull the sleeve high up onto your thigh so the silicon grippers make full contact with your skin. Ensure the knee cap is centered directly over the D3O insert. For cleaning, remove the protective inserts if possible and hand wash the sleeves in cool water with mild soap. Always air dry the pads away from direct heat sources to preserve the elasticity of the fabric and the integrity of the impact-absorbing material. To check compatibility with other gear, verify if your base-layer shorts feature the Padlock connection loop.
