Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Use
- First Wear: When you first wear your Wallabees, take note of the fit. The butter-soft leather will mold to your foot over time.
- Lacing: Adjust the waxy laces to achieve a snug, comfortable fit. Double knotting can help prevent them from coming undone.
Compatibility
- Wardrobe: These shoes are highly compatible with a wide range of clothing, including jeans, chinos, corduroys, and even some lightweight wool trousers. They complement both plain and patterned socks.
- Occasion: Suitable for casual, smart-casual, and even some semi-formal events where a unique, relaxed elegance is desired.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care is crucial to preserve the look and longevity of your Wallabee shoes.
- Leather Cleaning: Gently wipe off surface dirt with a soft, damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a dedicated leather cleaner suitable for smooth leather. Apply sparingly and wipe clean.
- Conditioning: To prevent the leather from drying out and cracking, apply a leather conditioner regularly (every 1-2 months, depending on wear). This helps keep the leather supple and nourished.
- Crepe Sole Care: The natural crepe sole can pick up dirt and debris. To clean, gently rub the sole with a specialized crepe sole brush or a clean rubber eraser. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Water Protection: While not fully waterproof, applying a leather protector spray can provide a barrier against light moisture and stains. Reapply as per product instructions.
- Storage: Store your Wallabees in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use shoe trees to help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
- Avoid Harsh Conditions: Try to avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain, mud, or extreme temperatures, which can damage both the leather and the crepe sole.
