Full details
The Mountain Equipment Lumiko Full Zip Hooded Fleece is a high-performance technical layer designed for hikers, mountaineers, and alpine climbers who prioritize breathability and weight efficiency. It delivers an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio thanks to its unique brushed-back stretch fabric and internal gill structure, though users should note that its slim, active fit may feel restrictive if you prefer a looser style for casual wear.

FAQs
Is the Lumiko fleece windproof?
No, it is designed for maximum breathability and does not have a windproof membrane. It is best used as a mid-layer under a windproof shell.
Does this fleece fit under a helmet?
Yes, the hood is specifically designed to be helmet-compatible, fitting comfortably underneath most climbing helmets.
Can I wear this while wearing a heavy backpack?
Yes, the low-profile construction is specifically designed to sit smoothly under rucksack straps and harness waistbelts to prevent bunching.
Is the fit true to size?
The Lumiko has a slim, active fit. If you prefer a more relaxed feel or intend to wear thick layers underneath, you might consider sizing up.
Is the material machine washable?
Yes, it is machine washable at 30°C. Avoid fabric softeners as they can interfere with the fleece's moisture-wicking capabilities.
Troubleshooting
Fabric snagging on abrasive surfaces
Avoid contact with rough granite or sharp equipment; if a thread pulls, gently smooth the surrounding fabric rather than pulling the snag.
Zipper feeling stiff after exposure to grit
Gently clean the teeth with a soft brush and water to remove debris, then allow it to dry completely.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your fleece, follow these care guidelines:
- Washing: Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Use a mild technical detergent to preserve the stretch fabric properties.
- Drying: Air dry whenever possible. Avoid high-heat tumble drying, as it can degrade the elastic fibres.
- Layering Compatibility: Designed to be worn as part of a technical system. It fits best over a base layer and comfortably beneath an uninsulated waterproof shell or a softshell jacket.
- Storage: Hang in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use for extended periods.
