Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup (Setting Your TSA Lock)
Your British Traveller suitcase comes with an integrated TSA combination lock. Follow these steps to set your personal code:
- The lock is preset to `0-0-0`. Open the lock by ensuring these numbers are aligned.
- Locate the small reset button (usually a tiny hole) next to the dials. You might need a pen or a thin tool to press it.
- While pressing and holding the reset button, set your desired 3-digit combination by turning the dials.
- Release the reset button. Your new combination is now set. Remember your combination as there is no master reset for users.
Compatibility
This 28-inch suitcase is suitable for a wide range of travel:
- Air Travel: It is generally considered a check-in bag due to its size. Always check your specific airline's baggage allowance and weight restrictions before flying, as these vary.
- Train and Car Travel: Its durable construction and maneuverability make it perfect for train trips or road trips.
- Storage: Its hard shell allows for easy stacking with other luggage.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your suitcase:
- Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the Polypropylene hard shell with a damp cloth and mild soap (if necessary) to remove dirt and scuffs. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the finish.
- Interior Cleaning: The polyester lining can be wiped down with a damp cloth. For spills, blot immediately and air dry. Do not immerse the suitcase in water.
- Wheels: Periodically check the wheels for any tangled hair, strings, or debris. Remove any obstructions to ensure smooth rolling. A small amount of silicone spray can help keep them spinning freely.
- Telescopic Handle: Keep the telescopic handle clean and free of obstructions. Avoid forcing the handle if it feels stiff.
- Zippers: For smooth operation, occasionally lubricate the YKK zippers with a silicone-based lubricant or zipper wax, especially if they become stiff. Ensure they are free from dirt or grit.
- Storage: Store the suitcase in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid placing excessively heavy items on top of it for prolonged periods to prevent shell deformation.
