Product Information

Full details

The Regatta Aldthorn Padded Jacket is designed for adult women who need a reliable, insulated layer for cold and damp outdoor conditions. Its primary benefit is the combination of high-quality recycled synthetic down insulation with a water-repellent finish, providing substantial warmth without excessive bulk. While it offers excellent protection against light rain and chilly temperatures, the jacket is not a fully waterproof shell and may require additional layering during extreme storm conditions.

FAQs

Is the Regatta Aldthorn jacket fully waterproof?

No, it features a water-repellent finish that protects against light showers, but it is not classified as waterproof.

Can I wash this in a standard washing machine?

Yes, it is machine washable; however, please follow the care label instructions and use a gentle cycle.

Is the hood detachable?

No, the hood is a grown-on style, meaning it is integrated into the jacket design.

What type of insulation does it use?

It uses high-quality recycled synthetic down.

Does it have internal pockets?

Yes, it includes a zippered inner security pocket.

How should I adjust the fit?

You can adjust the hood using the integrated toggles and the waist hem using the elasticated cord system.

Troubleshooting

The jacket feels less warm than before.

The insulation may have become compressed. Tumble dry on low with dryer balls to restore loft.

Water is soaking into the fabric rather than beading.

The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish has worn off. Apply a fabric-safe waterproofing treatment.

Zipper is catching on fabric.

Ensure the inner flap is held flat away from the zipper teeth while closing. If it persists, check for debris caught in the zipper track.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Warm yet lightweight design
  • Environmentally conscious recycled insulation
  • Effective water-repellent coating for damp weather
  • Multiple secure pockets for storage
  • Highly adjustable fit through hood and hem

Cons

  • Not intended for heavy, prolonged rainfall
  • Requires specific care to maintain water-repellent finish
  • Limited to adult sizing options

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Regatta Aldthorn jacket, follow these guidelines:

  1. Care: Machine wash on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners, as they can degrade the water-repellent finish.
  2. Drying: Tumble dry on low heat with clean tennis balls or dryer balls to help fluff the synthetic insulation.
  3. Maintenance: If water stops beading on the surface over time, consider using a spray-on or wash-in re-waterproofing treatment to restore the finish.
  4. Storage: Store the jacket in a cool, dry place on a hanger rather than compressed in a tight bag to preserve the loft of the insulation.
