FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for trail running?

The Nike ReactX Infinity Run 4 Gore-Tex trainers offer good traction for light trails and varied terrain. However, for technical or extremely muddy trails, specialized trail running shoes with more aggressive lugs might be preferable.

How do I find my correct size?

Measure your foot length from heel to the longest toe and compare it with the provided size chart. If your measurement falls between two sizes, it's generally recommended to size up for a more comfortable fit, especially considering the Gore-Tex lining can add a snugger feel.

Can I wear these in hot weather?

While designed for waterproofing, the Gore-Tex membrane can reduce breathability compared to non-waterproof shoes. They are best suited for cool, wet, or moderate conditions. For very hot and humid weather, alternative non-waterproof trainers might offer better ventilation.

What is the main difference between the ReactX Infinity Run 4 and the Gore-Tex version?

The primary difference is the addition of a Gore-Tex waterproof membrane in this version, which enhances protection against water and wet conditions. The core cushioning and fit technologies remain similar.

How long does the ReactX cushioning typically last?

The ReactX foam is engineered for enhanced durability. With regular use, most runners can expect the cushioning to remain effective for several hundred miles (typically 300-500 miles), depending on running style, weight, and terrain.

Do these shoes require any special socks?

No special socks are required. However, wearing moisture-wicking athletic socks can further enhance comfort and help manage foot climate, especially during longer runs.

Troubleshooting

Water seeping into the shoe

Ensure laces are tied securely and the Gore-Tex membrane is intact. Minor seeps might occur from the top opening if submerged. Check for any damage to the shoe's exterior or seams.

Reduced cushioning or responsiveness

The ReactX foam is designed for durability. If cushioning feels significantly reduced after extensive use, it may be time to consider replacement. Ensure the shoe is clean, as dirt can affect performance.

Squeaking noise during activity

This can sometimes occur due to moisture between layers or with new materials. Try wearing thicker socks or ensure the shoes are completely dry. If the noise persists, it may be a material characteristic.

Poor traction on surfaces

Check the outsole for wear and tear, and clean off any embedded debris. The traction is designed for varied conditions, but extreme wear or slick surfaces can reduce grip.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent waterproofing for wet weather running.
  • Responsive cushioning provides a comfortable and energetic feel.
  • Secure fit for stability and support during runs.
  • Durable construction for long-term use.
  • Suitable for a variety of running conditions.

Cons

  • May require a break-in period for optimal comfort.
  • Gore-Tex material might slightly reduce breathability in very warm conditions compared to non-waterproof models.
  • Sizing can be precise; careful measurement is recommended.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: These trainers are ready to wear out of the box. Ensure you have selected the correct size by referring to the sizing chart and measuring your foot length. The lacing system allows for adjustment to your preferred fit.

Compatibility: Designed for adult male runners. The primary function is running, but they are also suitable for general athletic training and walking. They are compatible with standard athletic socks.

Care: To maintain the performance and lifespan of your Gore-Tex trainers:

  • Cleaning: Gently clean the exterior with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Drying: If the shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or hair dryers, as this can damage the materials and waterproof membrane.
  • Washing Machine: It is generally not recommended to machine wash Gore-Tex footwear, as it can compromise the waterproof properties and structural integrity.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
