FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for everyday walking?
While they offer excellent cushioning, their design is optimized for trail running performance. For general walking, they may be more robust than necessary, but they can certainly be used.
How do I know if the fit is correct?
The shoe should feel snug but not constricting. Ensure there is enough room in the toe box for your toes to splay naturally, and the heel should not slip.
Can I machine wash these trainers?
No, machine washing is not recommended. It can damage the advanced materials and construction. Hand wash with cold water and a soft brush.
What type of socks are best with these shoes?
Moisture-wicking synthetic or wool blend socks are recommended to complement the shoe's breathability and manage foot moisture effectively.
How long should I expect the cushioning to last?
The longevity of cushioning depends on usage, terrain, and individual weight. For most trail runners, the cushioning should remain effective for several hundred miles of running.
Are there other color options available?
While this guide focuses on the Grey variant, other color options may be available depending on the retailer and current stock. Please check product listings for alternatives.
Troubleshooting
Shoes feel stiff on first wear
The advanced Matryx material may require a short break-in period. Wear them for shorter runs or walks initially to allow them to mold to your feet.
Reduced traction on wet surfaces
Ensure the outsole is clean of mud or debris. While designed for grip, extremely slick surfaces can challenge any footwear.
Water seeping into shoes
These shoes are breathable but not waterproof. For very wet conditions, consider waterproof socks or gaiters.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
These shoes are designed for immediate use upon purchase. Ensure the laces are tied to your preferred snugness for a secure fit. There is no specific setup required beyond adjusting the lacing.
Compatibility:
The Merrell MTL Adapt Matryx is a specialized trail running shoe. It is compatible with standard trail running conditions, including dirt paths, rocky terrain, mud, and light snow.
Care:
- Cleaning: After use, gently brush off loose dirt and mud with a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with cold water. Avoid using harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources like radiators or in a tumble dryer, as this can damage the materials.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
