FAQs
What type of playing surface are these boots suitable for?
These boots are specifically designed for Soft Ground (SG) pitches, which include natural grass fields that are wet or muddy.
Are the studs on these boots removable?
Yes, the studs on the ControlPlate 2.0 soft ground outsole are removable and replaceable.
How do I clean my Predator League Tongue SG boots?
After use, remove excess mud with a soft brush or damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap solution and a soft sponge. Always air dry at room temperature, away from direct heat.
What is HybridFeel upper?
HybridFeel is adidas's tactile and flexible synthetic upper material, engineered to provide lightweight comfort and a natural, responsive feel on the ball.
Can I use these boots on artificial grass or firm ground?
No, these boots are not recommended for artificial grass (AG) or firm ground (FG) surfaces. Using them on unsuitable surfaces can damage the boots and may void the warranty.
What are Strikescale elements?
Strikescale elements are refined 3D texture and grippy fins integrated into the upper, designed to provide increased purchase on the ball for enhanced precision and swerve when striking or controlling the ball.
Do these boots stretch over time?
As these boots feature a synthetic HybridFeel upper, they will not stretch significantly like natural leather. They are designed to maintain their shape and provide a consistent fit, with a slight break-in period to conform to your foot.
Troubleshooting
Studs frequently come loose or fall out.
Regularly check and tighten all removable studs before and after each use. Consider using a small amount of thread lock solution (ensure it's safe for boot studs) if persistent loosening occurs, and replace any severely worn or damaged studs immediately.
Poor grip on the pitch despite being on soft ground.
Ensure the studs are clean and free of mud or debris. Verify that the correct stud length is being used for the specific softness of the ground. Check if any studs are excessively worn down and replace them.
Boots feel uncomfortable or cause rubbing after a few uses.
Allow for a proper break-in period; synthetic boots often need a few sessions to mold to your foot. Ensure you are wearing appropriate football socks. If discomfort persists, double-check your sizing and consider trying different lacing techniques for a more personalized fit.
Upper material appears creased or damaged quickly.
While HybridFeel is durable, consistent bending can cause creases. Ensure proper care by cleaning and drying the boots correctly after each use. Avoid storing them in cramped or folded positions that could cause undue stress on the material.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Enhanced Ball Control and Striking: Strikescale elements and HybridFeel upper significantly improve grip and precision for shots and passes.
- Comfortable Fit: The HybridFeel material, Primeknit collar, and integrated fold-over tongue contribute to a comfortable and secure fit.
- Optimized for Soft Ground: ControlPlate 2.0 provides excellent traction, stability, and agility on wet or muddy pitches.
- Durable Construction: Synthetic upper is designed for lasting performance.
Cons
- Surface Limitation: Soleplate is specifically designed for soft ground and is not suitable for firm ground, artificial grass, or indoor surfaces.
- Specific Tongue Design: The fold-over tongue, while beneficial for some, might not be preferred by all players.
Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the boots are laced securely but comfortably. The traditional lace closure allows for a customizable fit.
- Stud Adjustment (if needed): These boots come with removable studs. Before your first use, ensure all studs are firmly tightened. Regularly check and re-tighten studs as they can loosen during play. Replacement studs can be purchased if needed.
Compatibility
- Playing Surface: These boots are exclusively designed for Soft Ground (SG) pitches. This includes natural grass fields that are wet, muddy, or require longer studs for grip. They are not recommended for firm ground (FG), artificial grass (AG), or indoor (IC) surfaces, as this can damage the boots and increase the risk of injury.
- Fit: The boots feature a regular fit and are designed for adult players.
- Unisex Design: Suitable for all genders.
Care
- Immediate Cleaning: After each use, especially on muddy pitches, clean your boots promptly. Remove excess mud and debris using a soft brush or a damp cloth.
- Stubborn Dirt: For more stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the synthetic materials.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do NOT dry them near direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, fireplaces) or in direct sunlight, as this can cause the materials to crack or stiffen.
- Stud Care: Periodically check the studs for wear and tear. Replace any worn or damaged studs to maintain optimal traction.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag, to protect them from dust and damage.
