FAQs
Are these shorts suitable for intense lap swimming?
They are designed for general recreational swimming and leisure. For high-performance competitive lap swimming, a tighter compression-fit brief is usually recommended.
Does the fabric provide UV protection?
While the polyester provides a basic physical barrier, it is not specifically treated as a high-UPF garment. It is best to apply sunscreen to skin not covered by the shorts.
Can I use these for other sports?
Yes, their lightweight and breathable construction makes them suitable for dry-land activities like jogging or gym workouts.
How should I choose the right size?
These shorts come in a XXXL size, which is designed for a larger, more relaxed fit. Refer to the standard adidas men's sizing guide for specific measurements.
Is the material chlorine-resistant?
The polyester material is naturally more resistant to degradation from chlorine compared to cotton or standard nylon blends.
Troubleshooting
Elastic waistband feeling loose after extended use
Avoid high-heat drying, which degrades elastic fibers; ensure you are rinsing thoroughly to remove salt/chlorine buildup.
Persistent chlorine scent
Soak the shorts in a mixture of cold water and a small amount of mild detergent for 30 minutes before proceeding with a standard wash.
Pros and Cons
Pros

- Secure elastic waistband provides a comfortable fit
- Side pockets add functional storage options
- Lightweight construction for ease of movement

Cons
- XXXL sizing may be limited to specific body profiles
- Lacks internal drawcord adjustments in some iterations
- Standard polyester may be less stretchy than specialized elastane blends
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your adidas Performance badshorts maintain their fit and colour integrity, follow these care instructions:
- Rinsing: Always rinse the shorts thoroughly in fresh, cold water immediately after using them in chlorinated or salt water to remove chemical and mineral residues.
- Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle with similar colours. Avoid using bleach or heavy fabric softeners as these can degrade the synthetic fibers.
- Drying: Air dry the shorts away from direct sunlight. High heat from a tumble dryer can cause the elastic in the waistband to lose its tension over time.
- Storage: Ensure the garment is completely dry before folding and storing it to prevent mildew or odors.
